About

How we build with intention

Coda Construct is a family-grown building company based in Canberra, led by Brady Toole. We bring together hands-on experience, practical systems, and a shared commitment to quality and clear communication.

We’re builders first — present on site, focused on detail, and accountable from start to finish. That means you get a calm, organised build that runs the way it should.

Experienced, Not Overbuilt

Our team is small, local, and trusted. We work closely with a reliable crew of trades, designers, and consultants who know what good looks like — and show up to deliver it.

From Craft to Clarity

Coda grew out of a long-standing family business. Today, we combine that legacy with modern systems, design-aware thinking, and a clear focus on long-term performance.

With over 15 years in the building industry, Brady leads Coda Construct with a hands‑on, detail‑driven approach. Growing up on job sites alongside his father, construction has always been second nature.

After completing his carpentry apprenticeship and becoming a licensed builder, Brady developed a strong focus on well-managed, design-aware projects. He’s present on site, involved in the day‑to‑day, and committed to delivering work that reflects the intent of the plans.

Brady is particularly drawn to renovations and extensions — projects that require care, problem‑solving, and a high level of finish. His goal is simple: build homes that last and relationships that do too.

History

How we came to build what matters

Started in a garage with my father, learning the trade from the ground up. We built our reputation on honest work and materials that endure.

2009/2010

Brady started working for Craig’s previous company in 2009/2010 working as a carpenter.

2015

BCT was started by Craig in 2015 kicking off Brady's introduction into the management side of building. During this time we continued working predominantly on architectural builds and renovations.

2016

We started to work on a few Passivhaus style homes which exposed us to better energy performance and systems.

2026

After navigating the challenges of the COVID period and its impact on small businesses, we started Coda Construct with a renewed focus on energy-efficient and sustainable building.

Our approach combines key principles of Passivhaus design with NatHERS energy modelling to create practical, high-performing homes suited to Canberra’s unique climate—comfortable and efficient throughout every season.

Photos from over the years

Coda may be a new name, but the work behind it goes back decades. From early job sites to recent builds, we’ve collected a few moments that show how far we’ve come — and the quality that’s never changed.

Scroll through and you’ll see the foundations this business was built on: family, craft, and a commitment to doing the job right.

If you talk to anyone who has been through a home building process, they will have at least one horror story to tell you, typically related to time and cost overruns (including hidden costs), poor build quality, poor communication and much compromise. Our building experience could not have been more different.

Our relationship with Brady spans over 20 years, and includes one home extension, and two new homes (one replacing the home we had lost in the 2003 Canberra fires, and our current home which was a knockdown-rebuild), and most recently an outdoor kitchen. Throughout our build process, Brady communicated with us daily, and helped us create what truly is our ‘dream home’. Many of our home’s favourite features were developed in real time with Brady and his team. In this regard, our relationship has always felt like a partnership rather than a typical business relationship.

Wendy and Robin

Brady’s communication was excellent from start to finish, and whenever something needed to be adjusted he and the team came to us with practical solutions. The quality across the guest bedroom and en-suite, roofing and main bathroom was excellent, with real attention to detail. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with Brady again.
